Online Training

Do YOU know how to help your pet in an emergency?

In an effort to meet the continued demand for our highly regarded hands-on Pet

CPR & First Aid training both within and beyond our immediate coverage area,

Paws N Claws 911 adapted our proven program to an online platform. Unlike traditional online learning which leaves the student on their own to interpret

and (hopefully) understand the material, our highly interactive approach

provides a live instructor (a thirty plus year seasoned pre-hospital emergency

medical care provider and educator) providing HANDS-ON skills practice.

The live instructor clearly explains/demonstrates the skills and immediately

addresses any questions, concerns or skills remediation needs while

presenting the information with the same "real world" approach we have

 established our reputation on.

This approach ensures the student's understanding, proficiency and retention           of the life saving skills taught. Experience the difference of being taught by an instructor with thirty plus years field experience in pre-hospital emergency
medical care who has both administered and taught these life saving skills
in an emergency. There is no substitute for real world experience!
*Since the inception of our online program in 2020, Paws N Claws 911

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this training conducted?

Our online training classes are conducted through the secure Zoom® online conferencing platform. This secure system which has been updated with additional safeguards to address security concerns    can be easily accessed using any PC or Mac desktop, laptop or tablet as well as smartphones (iPhone

or Android). Students do not need to have a Zoom® account and there is no charge to use this service.

What is the advantage to your method of online training?

Unlike traditional online learning which leaves the student on their own to interpret and (hopefully) understand the material through slide presentations and/or videos, our highly interactive approach

provides HANDS-ON training taught by a live instructor (a thirty plus year seasoned pre-hospital emergency medical care provider and educator) who clearly explains/demonstrates the skills while immediately addressing any questions, concerns or skills remediation needs while presenting the information using the same "real world" approach we have established our reputation on.

This approach ensures the student's understanding, proficiency and retention of the life saving skills taught. Experience the difference of being taught by an instructor with thirty plus years field experience
in pre-hospital emergency medical care who has administered and taught these life saving skills in an emergency. There is no substitute for real world experience!

How will students access the class materials?

Upon securing seats with a paid registration, students will be mailed a package containing an emergency muzzle, poisoning prevention/emergency hand-outs and an information sheet with details on attending the class. A small list of simple training props (costing less than $5) is provided that the student can choose to obtain to maximize the hands-on training portion of the class. Best of all, these items are readily available in most retail stores (including "dollar stores") and can be added to your

pet first aid kit after the class!

The 25+ page detailed handbook will be provided online and can be downloaded/printed at the discretion of the student (handbook is provided at no additional cost unlike all other online programs). Upon successful completion of the entire class, students will be mailed a certificate of completion (valid for two years) as they would normally receive when attending a class in person.

How will students perform hands-on skills practice?

Students can practice the hands-on skills using either a stuffed animal (dog or cat) or on their own pet provided they are calm enough (certain skills such as CPR/choking and tourniquets cannot

be done on live animals). None of the skills practiced cause any discomfort or harm to live animals.

How many students can attend this class at one time?

In an effort to maintain an adequate instructor-to-student ratio for proper interaction during online training, class size is limited to 20 students maximum (certain classes have different size limits based on the target audience). Please note that every student in attendance must be registered/paid in advance to attend (you are welcome to have more than one student with you participating in class, however, they must each have a paid registration). For those students who attend our online training and wish to join us in a future in-person class (taught throughout the Northeast US), we offer a discount of $10.00 off the regular registration fee of the future class

you attend (please note this discount does not apply to the First Responder training class).

What if I have a group of friends/family or staff that needs this training?

We offer private classes at no additional charge that can be scheduled based on your availability (weekday/night or weekend). For groups of friends/family/fellow pet lovers, consider hosting our

Pet Safety House Party - the host receives their class FREE  (a $65.00 value) while your fellow students receive a discount off their individual registration. The 2.5 hour class timeframe is ideal

for a quick, fun get together while practicing social distancing! Contact us to schedule your class!

What if I have questions?

For any questions prior to class, students can contact us daily until 10 PM EST by phone, text or e-mail.  During class, students will have the opportunity to ask questions of the live instructor to clarify any concerns or skills remediation needs. In addition, the instructor will remain available online following the class for a short period to address any remaining questions/skills remediation needs.

Do I still get a certificate of completion for attending class?

Yes - students upon completing the entire class will be mailed their certificate. This is the same quality card stock certificate (suitable for framing) that students would receive when attending our in-person class. Many of the pet care professionals who attend our training add this to their client portfolio or frame them for hanging in their business establishment (pet parents do take notice that your staff are trained to help their pets!)

How do I register for a class?

Simply contact us to schedule a class date for your group/club/staff. Please note that just as with our

in-person classes, pre-registration/payment is required to reserve seats (payment can be made online using PayPal® or by mailing a check prior to class). **For check payments, choose the "Offline Payment" option, the mailing address where to send the check will be included in your confirmation email**

What if I cannot attend the class I registered for?

If you cannot attend a class that you registered/paid for, you have the option of a class credit (no expiration date) which can be used in any future on-line class or you can transfer your registration

to another person. Simply contact us by phone, text or email to request either option.

When can I gain access to the class? What if I'm late?

Students may log-on up to 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time at which point they will be admitted/welcomed by the instructor. It is requested that you be “in your seat” by five minutes prior to the scheduled class start time as we begin promptly. Any student not “in class” within five minutes after the scheduled start time will be denied access and provided with a credit (no expiration date) for use in a future online class.

What if I am need of this training in-person?

Simply check our class schedule on the homepage or contact us via e-mail, phone or text daily until 10 PM to discuss class availability/scheduling a class. Please note that our immediate coverage area for in-person classes is the Northeast US, however, we offer this online training to a worldwide audience.

We look forward to seeing you in a future class!
