  • Student group whose mission is to humanely trap, neuter and vaccinate the on-campus feral cat colony. Cats and kittens are found homes and those deemed un-adoptable are released back into the feral colony and fed daily

      Huntington Town Animal Shelter, East Northport (Long Island, NY)

  • Operated by the League for Animal Protection, this volunteer shelter provides rescue, care and rehabilitation of stray, abandoned and abused animals in Huntington Township 

       Islip Animal Shelter and Adopt-A-Pet Center, Bay Shore (Long Island, NY)

  • Providing shelter and adoption of stray and abandoned animals in the Township of Islip  

       Smithtown Animal Shelter, Smithtown (Long Island, NY)

  • Provides care and adoption of lost, stray and surrended pets within the Township of Smithtown

  • Nassau county's only privatized municipal shelter providing care and adoption of abandoned and abused animals

        

Animal Advocacy Groups

      Pioneers for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Hicksville (Long Island, NY)

  • Providing a variety of programs to support pet owners and their pets including low cost spay/neuter options, trap-neuter-release program, humane education in schools ("PAWS To Learn"), financial assistance to pet owners for pet care and public outreach education (breed specific rescue groups, NYS cruelty laws, pet parent estate planning, pet safey, etc.) 

      Guardians of Rescue, Smithtown (Long Island, NY)

  • Providing innovative programs benefiting both people and and animals such as Paws of War (partners homeless pets with military veterans often experiencing PTSD), Gimme Shelter (provides patrol and care for animals in situations without proper protection), Home Again (assists returning military members with adoption of animals from shelters   or those rescued during deployment), Next Generation Guardians (educating children about animal rescue) and Helping Families (pet food and supply bank providing families with needed pet care supplies during catastrophes or those suffering financial hardship).  

      Companion Animal Advocates, Hillsdale (Bergen County, NJ) 

  • Advocacy group offering support programs including Feed-A-Pet (donating 350 bags of pet food per month to local  food banks), Humane Education (providing over 100 pet oxygen mask kits to FD/EMS agencies in Bergen and Passaic Counties, more agencies still being equipped) and STOP Littering (promoting the importance of spaying/neutering  and providing resources for low cost procedues, over 200 animals have been spayed/neutered since 2010).
